March Madness is a well known term for season ending basketball leagues, which are played in March. The phrase is usually said to be used by one, Brent Musburger, who is generally regarded as the individual to have co-related the phrase with the tournament. It was first used during the CBS Sports coverage of the NCAA basketball league, way back in the year 1982. March Madness is a registered trademark, which is collectively held by the Illinois High School Association and the NCAA. This trademark was the ingredient of a couple of high-profile court battles in recent years. March Madness also refers to the crazes, which are ignited by the tournaments amongst sports fans both at the college and school level. The term “March Madness” actually referred to the Conference basketball tournaments, which occur just before the NCAA tournament. It was very recently that the term “March Madness” is used to refer to NCAA tournaments, which involve approximately 49 games and run till early April. March Madness refers to both the women’s and men’s tournaments.

The NCAA 2007 March Madness was released in the January. It featured Adam Morrison on the cover page. Some of the features were as follows were Dynamic crowd environment and the ability to upgrade facilities. With regards to the crowd environment, the March Madness game observed a difference between the high-energy schools and the smaller, subdued people having less popular basketball programs. It was also noticed that a winning program unlocks a pep brand, the cheer leading squad to help in motivating the players. Another feature included was the ability of interaction with the crowd and the teammates and the opponents.

As a ritual for the tournament, the team winning the match cuts down the net at the end of both the national championship game and the regional championship game. A single strand is cut off from the net by each player and, is concluded with the head coach cutting the last strand and laying claim to the net. From the year 2007, the regional champs get to receive a bronze plated trophy, which was previously given to only the Final four teams.
