The votes in the Oscar Awards are attested and tabularized by a company named PricewaterhouseCoopers. The most current Oscar award ceremony, the 79th Annual Academy Awards was organized on the 25th of February, 2007 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, in Hollywood. Ellen DeGeneres was the host and was produced by Laura Ziskin. It is hoped that the 80th Academy awards would be taking place in the same locale on the 24th of February 2008.

Oscar Statue:

The Oscar award is formally known as the “Academy award of Merit”. The Oscar award is plated with gold. The height of the Oscar award is 13.5 metres and the weight comes to about 3.85 kilograms. The Oscar award mainly indicates a dub handling a sword. The knight stands on a celluloid film having five rungs. They indicate the Academy’s master copy arms. These five spokes include the technicians, the writers, the directors, the producers and the actors. The design supervision was managed by Cedric Gibbons. The statue was given its present form by George Stanley and Alex Smith. The make up of the statuette is 7.5 % of the red metal and 92.5 % of the tin. Except some small changes in its bottom, nothing has changed as yet in the statue.

Miscellaneous:

Makers of the statue make at least 40 Oscars every year, in the city of Illinois. These makers have to follow the criteria involved in making award statues. Statues that do not pass the criteria test are simply broken down and then recycled.
